ROCKET DVD ART
ROCKET DVD ARTWORK
In late 2009 Rocket Entertainment started a DVD label which was designed to highlight cult movies from the past which had largely been ignored by the Australian Market. The main areas of focus were Science Fiction and Horror films which had played a big part in the life of many Australians when they were played on Awful Movies With Deadly Ernest and Science Fiction Theatre in the sixties. The label would also focus of film serials which were originally played as a support screening to the main feature on Saturday afternoons, intended to lure children back to the cinema to catch the next installment the following week. Australian children of the sixties would also enjoy many of these which were screened on afternoon television by ATV 0 in the mid to late sixties. Other cult areas of interest are the hundreds of juvenile delinquent films to have never been seen on these shores as well as the many Mental Hygiene films which were shown in classrooms of the fifties and sixties to keep our youth on the straight and narrow. Mental Hygiene genre films include Drug education, Sex Education, Dating and etiquette films and some industrial and road safety films.

INVADERS FROM OUTER SPACE
(Released: 25th November 2009)
Buzz thought my original alien was a little meek looking and suggested that I make him a little angrier and perhaps add some aspect of an invasion. He was right, I much prefer the second version. I had based the alien on one I saw in an old science fiction pulp magazine the aliens looked friendly but ended up wanting to eat the people of earth. I couldn't make that concept clear on the cover.
I really liked the idea of taking the aliens from each film and placing them in a typical earth settings. Disc 1 had Zontar and Gor sitting on the couch watching television. Both had picked up the bad habits of smoking and drinking.
Disc 2 had The Saucerman and The Master Of The Moon using the hotel urinal.
Disc 3 had Robot Monster and The Phantom From Space enjoying a BBQ in the backyard. I loved the idea that their dog had an ear infection and that they would have had to have gone to the vet to get it seen to. Unfortunately the company that was doing our authoring at the time cut the dog out of the menu. The house in the background has the fountain from Mon Oncle in their back yard.
The character on the cover of the booklet is Gwyllm from the Outer Limits episode; The Sixth Finger. That program is not on the DVD I just love drawing him. He only has four fingers in my version.

(Released: 25th November 2009)

JUVENILE
SINISTER SONS AND DANGEROUS DAUGHTERS
(Released: 28th October 2009)
The final cover for Juvenile was considered more suitable for release. It was mentioned that the first cover was too violent for the disc's rating and that I should tone down the violence a bit. The two girls are based Angela Elphick and Betty Pondikakis/Perrier who I worked with at Shock Records. Although Betty wasn't pregnant and didn't have a beehive hairstyle.
Below is the original version

(Released: 28th October 2009)
RKT 002
RADAR MEN FROM THE MOON
(Released: 29th September 2009)
It was during the making of this cover that we decided to use original art on all our covers. We were going to use the original poster for the serial but couldn't get a copy that was good enough to reproduce. A day before the deadline I copied the poster, making a few alterations and changing the colour scheme.
